NYCC: Largest Insane Asylum on the East Coast

NYCCIf you’ve never been to a comic convention before, well, it’s pretty much the nerd version of a music festival with a side of Halloween.

There was a sign, mocked up by the actual humans who run the convention, that read “NYCC: The Largest Insane Asylum on the East Coast.” That title is scarily accurate if you look at it from the outside. Read the rest at TheBlot.

Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. liveblog

Agents

“When I talked to Rich at NYCC this weekend, we were coming up with some ideas for some things I could write for the site, and he mentioned wanting someone to cover Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. I already watch the show, so it was kind of a no brainer. I figured, since I watch it and yell at the TV anyway, I might as well write down some stuff. Not like it’d be infringing upon some free time or anything.”

I’m live blogging this season for BleedingCool. Catch it live on Tuesday nights at 8pm.

Your Complete List of Fall TV Pilots to Watch, Avoid, or Laugh At

tv-fall-reviewThe fall TV season is always riddled with pilots. Some of them are absolutely awesome, some of them are terrible and jump the shark in their opening but then become hilarious, and others are absolutely terrible with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. So, here’s a rundown of everything you might have missed, and some advice on which new shows you should take up watching. Read the rest at TheBlot.

Urban Exploration Gone Wrong

urban-explorationThis is the story about how I ended up swimming in the Hudson . . .

Almost.

Now, there is this trend online called urban exploration. I had been toying with the idea of starting a blog and getting in on it, since there are a lot of abandoned old buildings near where I live. Sadly, my first attempt was my last. I’m sure the local cops are happy about that though. They won’t be getting any calls complaining about a crazy woman trying to pry open the door to the condemned building next door. Read the rest at TheBlot.

Crowd sourcing for tech

Oktoberfest 2013 - General ViewsKickstarter is pretty well known for helping fund indie art projects. If you have a book you want to write, start a Kickstarter. If you have a game you want to develop, go to kickstarter. If you have a film series or web seriesyou need to fund, Kickstarter. Now, crowd sourcing has been adapted for a lot of industries, from project funding to news (examiner.com is pretty much built off the same model), but it might even be the next venue for investments. Justin Bieber to don Robin’s Iconic Pixie Boots

robin-beiberJustin Bieber may be playing Robin in the upcoming Batman Vs. Superman, or maybe the entire thing is an elaborate internet hoax, because the Biebs is kind of famous for really dumb pranks. It’s okay, you can stop screaming. I get it, nobody likes Justin Bieber. Nobody wants him to be Robin. I kind of don’t either, because I get scary protective of my Robin babies (they tend to die too often for my liking), but this might not be the horror story we’re all imagining. Ghost Shark: Need Anything Else?

ghostshark

Ghost Shark was Syfy’s follow-up to Sharknado, and while the film didn’t receive the same kind of Internet craze as the one about sharks falling from the sky, it did have the exact same madness that longtime fans have come to accept from Syfy’s original movies. A lot of them are about sharks. Most of them are monster movies. All of them have terrible acting, horrid production values and abysmal scripts. But that is exactly what makes them a gold mine of comedy. Read the rest at TheBlot.

Badass Ladies in Horror are Destroying the Genre

HorrorFemaleNow, most of the time, I am first in line for defending the character of awesome fictional ladies. There is nothing I want more than a high-grossing video game with a female protagonist — not a high-grossing game where you can play as a lady, but one where it’s the only choice. Or, you know, someone other than generic action hero white guy. Read the rest at TheBlot.

Will the App Replace the Album

gagaLady Gaga’s Artpop album/app combo debuts this November, and Jay-Z’s latest album was released as an app to a number of Samsung customers, which has everyone wondering if the app will ever come close to replacing the album. Read the rest at Cliché.
